(KANSAS CITY, MO) The midwestern indie rock quartet better known as Vigil and Thieves have officially released their long awaited single titled “heroin & automobiles.” Coining the phrase ‘loud & pretty,’ the band offers a somber yet elegant soundtrack in remembrance of dear friends Anthony Saluto and Sammy Jo Watson. Vocalist Sarah Storm unveils a sort of heartache that is masterfully recreated through careful and poignant lyrics while the instrumentals lend a strong and steady yet syncopated heartbeat to the visceral narrative. Produced by John Burke at Vibe Studios in Bedford Heights Ohio; “heroin & automobiles” demonstrates the progressive and mature dynamic of the region’s up and coming alternative group. Stay tuned for upcoming tour dates in 2018.

Vigil and Thieves is a Kansas City indie alternative quartet formed in early 2014. Previously described as “grandiose” with a “heartbreaking heaviness,” the band has honed in on dynamic and lyrically-driven song structures that have been compared to live poetry. Their debut album, ‘[defective] book one,’ was released in September 2014, followed by an east coast tour in support, and has since received high praise from publications including Liberty Press, CAMP Kansas City Magazine, and I Heart Local Music. The band received first place in the Judges’ Choice category in the 2016 Human Rights Campaign Battle of the Bands. Their sophomore EP, Neverland, embodies every adventure the band has collectively taken part in, while the summer of 2017 tour laid down the stepping stones for a brand new chapter with the release of a new single and efforts to record a debut full-length.
